old Williamstown school (Nor'westers and Loyalist Museum)

Tucked among trees on John Street is the Nor'westers and Loyalist Museum. The Georgian style structure was originally built as a school in 1862. Later, as a Centennial project in 1967, it became the present museum.

What's really neat about this, is that the kids carved their names in the brick. It's just not that they carved, it's that they had style... almost "fontish" like!



And since this was a grade school, the carvings only go so far up the wall.

It's easy to figure out who the tallest kid was, or perhaps they lifted each other on their shoulders.
